Find and Clear Your YouTube Watch Later List, Then Act on One Video

Open YouTube, choose You, then open Watch Later. On iPhone, iPad, and Android, tap your profile picture to reach You. On desktop, choose You in the Guide. To clear the list, use Remove watched videos when YouTube shows that control, then remove every remaining unwatched video through its More menu. YouTube's current Help pages document no one-click command that clears all unwatched videos.

A long queue of video cards narrows into one checked task card.

Glean Editorial reviewed YouTube Help on September 11, 2026. Glean Editorial reports YouTube's documented paths here, not a hands-on account test. YouTube can change its controls, so you will see the current documented method separated from an older bulk option that may still appear in your playlist menu.

Find Watch Later on desktop and mobile

You can find Watch Later inside the You area. You use a different first control on desktop and mobile, but you look for the same playlist name and removal command.

DeviceFind your Watch Later listRemove one video
Desktop webOpen the Guide, choose You, then choose Watch Later. After you sign in, you can also open YouTube's Watch Later page.Click More below the video, then click Remove from Watch later. Follow YouTube's computer instructions.
iPhone or iPadTap your profile picture, find the You tab, then choose Watch Later under Playlists.Tap More next to the video, then tap Remove from Watch later. Follow YouTube's iPhone and iPad instructions.
AndroidTap your profile picture, find the You tab, then choose Watch Later under Playlists.Tap More next to the video, then tap Remove from Watch later. Follow YouTube's Android instructions.

On desktop, choose the You icon in the Guide, then look for Watch Later. On mobile, look for Watch Later under Playlists in the You tab. You can confirm both locations in YouTube's You tab guide.

Fix a Watch Later list that seems missing

Start with the account, not the playlist. You save each video under a specific Google account and YouTube channel. If you see an empty or unfamiliar list, open your profile menu and check the active account or channel. Follow the Switch accounts path for desktop or mobile in YouTube's You tab instructions.

Then use this sequence:

  • Open You rather than History or Subscriptions.
  • Expand Playlists if Watch Later does not appear immediately.
  • Sign in on desktop, then open the direct Watch Later page.
  • Switch back to the account or channel where you originally saved the videos.
  • Check one saved video's More menu and confirm that YouTube marks it for Watch Later.
Do not clear your watch history while trying to empty Watch Later. You manage watch history and Watch Later through separate controls. Follow YouTube's watch history instructions through My Activity, and use the Watch Later instructions to remove items inside the playlist.

Remove watched videos first when the option appears

Open Watch Later and inspect the playlist's More menu. If you see Remove watched videos, choose it before you review anything else. You will remove the videos that YouTube already marks as watched, and you can skip another decision about each finished video.

Treat this command as optional. YouTube does not guarantee that you will see it. A TeamYouTube employee documented the Remove watched control in 2019. In the current computer, iPhone, iPad, and Android Help pages, you will find only the More, then Remove from Watch later path for individual videos.

If you do not see Remove watched videos, continue with manual removal. Do not install an extension or paste code into your browser merely to force a bulk clear. YouTube does not document either method in its current Watch Later guidance.

Remove unwatched videos with the documented method

You currently have one documented path for unwatched videos: remove them one at a time. On desktop, click More below a video and choose Remove from Watch later. On iPhone, iPad, or Android, tap More next to a video and choose the same command. You can follow that path in all three official device guides in the table above.

For a long list, move quickly by deciding before you open any video. Read the title and channel name, then choose one of these outcomes:

DecisionWhat you do nowWhy it stays clear
Act soonKeep the video and name the action you will take. You connect the save to current work.
Keep as referenceMove the video to a specific playlist that names the topic. You stop using Watch Later as permanent storage.
No clear useRemove the video from Watch Later. You stop carrying an undefined commitment.

You do not need to watch a video to decide whether it still deserves a place. If the title, creator, and topic no longer connect to your work or interests, remove it. If you still want the information but cannot name a next step, move it to a topic playlist instead of leaving it in an action queue.

Triage a long Watch Later list without watching everything

Run one pass from the top of the list. Keep the decision small and repeatable:

  • Clear watched videos with the playlist command if YouTube shows it.
  • Read the next unwatched video's title and identify why you saved it.
  • Keep it only when you can name a current project, question, or decision where you will use it.
  • Move useful reference material to a topic playlist and remove the rest.
  • Stop the pass after you choose one video to act on now.
Here is a fictional example: you saved a long tutorial about improving a home-office microphone. Your current project needs clearer audio for a client presentation. Keep that video and write one next action: “Watch the microphone placement section and adjust the desk stand before Tuesday's rehearsal.” Remove another saved microphone review if you no longer plan to buy equipment.

After you choose that one video, share it to Glean from iOS or capture it from the Chrome side panel. Glean writes the next action and files it in the right project. Review that action, then keep or rewrite it before you start.

Turn one saved video into one concrete action

You gain nothing from a clean list if you never use what you keep. Give the selected video a narrow job before you press play.

Write an action with three parts:

PartQuestionFictional example
VerbWhat will you do?Adjust
ObjectWhat will you change or create? The microphone's desk stand
Finish conditionHow will you know you finished?Record and review one short sample

Now watch only the section that helps you complete that action. Use YouTube's chapter list or transcript when the creator provides one. If you need a fuller capture workflow, read Turn YouTube Videos Into Actionable Notes. If you want the site's source-specific workflow, open the YouTube video guide.

Keep the source attached to your action so you can check the creator's exact instruction later. Write your takeaway in your own words. If the video offers several ideas, choose the one that changes your next decision instead of converting the entire video into a new backlog.

Keep Watch Later useful after the cleanup

Decide why you want a video before you add it. YouTube lets you save a video from its watch page, save a Short through Save to playlist, or point to a thumbnail on desktop and choose Watch later, as its computer guide explains.

Use Watch Later as a short action queue, not an archive. When you save a video, name the question you expect it to answer. After you watch it, remove it or move it to a topic playlist if you need the source again. When you abandon the related project, remove the saved video too.

Review the list with four short decisions:

  • Remove watched videos when YouTube offers the command.
  • Remove unwatched videos that you no longer plan to use.
  • Move lasting reference material to a named playlist.
  • Choose one remaining video and define its next action.

Answer common questions

Where is Watch Later on YouTube? Open You. On desktop, choose You in the Guide and open Watch Later. On iPhone, iPad, or Android, tap your profile picture, then choose Watch Later under Playlists.

How do I clear Watch Later fast? Use Remove watched videos first if your playlist menu shows it. Then use More, followed by Remove from Watch later, for each unwatched video. YouTube's current Help pages do not document a command that removes every unwatched video at once.

Why does my Watch Later list look empty? Check your active Google account or YouTube channel, then open You and expand Playlists. On desktop, sign in and try YouTube's direct Watch Later page.

Does clearing YouTube history clear Watch Later? No. YouTube documents watch-history deletion in My Activity and Watch Later removal inside the playlist. Use the playlist controls when you want to clean Watch Later.

How do I act on a video instead of saving it again? Choose one video that you can use for a current project or decision. Write one verb, one object, and one finish condition. Watch only what you need, complete that action, then remove or refile the video.

Review the sources

Everything you save becomes a task that gets done.

Capture the source, review the task, and get it done, yourself or with your agent.
